FUTSAL is often used during the off-season as a FUN alternative to regular soccer. The characteristic of the game play is an ideal supplement to the turf/grass format. FUTSAL uses a weighted ball which deadens the bounce on indoor courts and allows for less response from the players touch. This is the main reason it is seen as a perfect developmental aid in the technical growth in youth players. It also encourages gains in the following areas.

Passing: Precision and accuracy with short passing is key.

Control: It encourages the use of different parts of the foot and improvisation.

Speed of Play: Smaller space translates to more touches on the ball and quicker decision making.

Dribbling: Players gain more confidence from using quick turning skills, dragging movements on the ball and other moves to avoid opponents.

Shooting: More goals are scored and offer instant rewards. This helps greatly in keeping players active, engaged and motivated.

These technical skill sets can then be transferred and applied to the regular outdoor soccer setting with much success.
